We recently purchased this garden hutch (to store chicken feed and a case of beer) and decided to add our own little details to it.
The hutch came w/ some really industrial hardware for the handles and lock.  We decided to soften it w/ our own version with drift wood we found when we camped in Montana 10 years ago! It is drift would from a lake.
It’s simple and matches the hutch so much better.  We also finished it w/ a hand milagro (Hands :: often speaks to craftsman and artists as a talisman of their artwork and their ability to continue to work.)
The hand milagro

was supposed to be a christmas ornament but when we received it by mail it’s too big for the tree…hence, we found a better place for it.

Weekend Gardening Success For Our Shed Garden

Well, this weekend was a mixture of weather from one extreme to the other. Saturday was overcast with bone chilling winds. Sunday saw sunny skies, a 10 degrees rise in temperature and 10 mph decrease in the winds. Making it feel at least 20 degrees warmer than Saturday.

We used our new cedar shed as a garden outpost to start seedlings, mix potting soil, and get everything ready for planting on Sunday. We have been saving our cardboard egg cartons, and milk cartons to use as initial starting pots for many of our plants like cherry tomatoes, and sunflowers.

The shed provided great protection from the elements on Saturday so we could get a lot of work done and not be too cold from standing outside all day. And the smell of the cedar was pleasant as we worked. The inside of the shed was filled with starter  pots, seeds, and soil, we called it our shed garden center.

Then on Sunday we were able to transfer everything outside to the gardens around the house. Now the shed is back to its main job of housing all of our garden tools and storing some lawn equipment.

Found a Shed I really like for my shed garden…..

When searching online today I saw several great cedar tool storage sheds that would work nicely on my property. The first shed for my shed garden will be a premium shingle cedar shed kit. These sheds are easy to setup with their panelized cedar shed walls and roofs.

Ok, I still needs several other sheds for my property so I will research some more now.

Spring is almost here, time to get the garden ready!
